February 2018

Cool, got some motion on the charts, good songs moving through, some fresh stuff to listen to after a few months of stagnation and boredom.   Mastadon is due an album this year, I think, but I haven't paid much attention to :"Emporer of Sand".  I will have to give that a listen because the second song from it just charted, while "Show Yourself" hangs on a while longer!  There might be more good stuff on that album!  I just wasn't grabbed by it and let it fall by the wayside. Dinosoul rules, though.  Kinda makes me sad - will I ever hear from this band again?  It's a local band from in or around Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  Those two songs are just lush and beautiful.  The soaring chorus on "Dimension" is, to me, awesome sounding.  I have always loved songs with similar guitar effects - its as if a guitar moans, or weeps, or laughs.  Those sustained notes with that particular effect is wicked.  I love that woman's voice - i...

January 2018

This is late. And this is the first time I will have typed anything in a posting since I dunno when. It is 2018.  I am doing OK. I have not had my usual seasonal affective disorder (my diagnosis), but then again I am so constantly uninspired and glum that there would be no difference, dark cloudy cold days or not. One notable thing is that unlike every holiday season since I could remember, I was not eager to get laid.  I mean, EVERY November through January, for decades, your boy was horny as a horny toad.   2016 was especially a whore fest.  Last year at this time, I had some experiences but they were not spectacular.  This year...hmm, no real desire. It's too much work to try to hook up.   Music keeps me going.  I really am enjoying listening to Dinosoul.  There are other newly found songs I have saved to youtube.  I don't make a habit of listening to music much (for months, now), hence the slow moving charts.   It ...

JANUARY 2017

OK, I am late this month.  My motivation took a dive.  I have been hampered with a partially torn bicep, and a cold that isn't really a cold anymore more than just a disgusting, steady stream of nasal drip from the inside of my fat head into my throat. On that note, I continue.  First let me say formatting this stupid blog is a disaster.  Why other fonts become current just after starting a new paragraph is beyond me.  I understand hidden, non-visible coding that may exist, like it does in Word, but I swear I correct that by deleting blank lines...only to have these return. It's a new year.  The charts are slow moving, stagnant, and non-inspiring.  That may change as a slew of new songs makes their way into my youtube favorites. But it may not matter... ...I think I am heading to the end here.  I am just fed up, but as always, I am not sure what I am fed up WITH. I have working arms, legs, a safe living environment. I am not in poverty, and...

November, 2016

Better late than never, as I lay here dying...from food asphyxiation/intoxication...in other words, it's Thanksgiving night and I am questioning my existence when feeling like shit from...eating.  I mean, a basic carbon life form function, and it makes me sick (not sick like I'm vomiting, but sick as in languid, tired, sleepy but not enough to sleep). It's a holiday - pass granted.  Diet starts tomorrow! Life continues, and is going well.  I still have the doldrums, but I guess I am doing what people need to do, in lieu of marriage and having children - expand your horizons, try out different things, stay busy.  The song from 36 Crazyfists hits #1.  A band I never heard of until this song, which is about 2 years old now.  I just never tired of it, and it remained on my youtube favorites, and when I tired of other songs, "Also Am I" got closer attention.  What a simply straighforward, kick ass song. The new entry is an EDM type song.  It h...

APRIL 2016

Am I eligible for sainthoood?  There must have been at least three times a miracle prevented me from ripping their head off with all the noise they make.  Apartment living at some point becomes not a bohemian joy but a drudgery. But yes, it has its advantages. Busy with school - one more fucking month left of grad school.  I am eager....so eager.... That is all.   Little interest in music as my chart shows - not a lot of movement for this month. JULY 2015

I kept putting this off...it's another thing on the schedule.  MORE time at the computer.  I need a break - I need frivolty: watching movies, driving around for the helluvit, getting a pizza at midnight.... I am just so busy, as usual. A cousin got married recently.  It was nice to see family from other states and provinces, for the first time in years.  I always feel dull, and that no one really wants to talk to me that much. Little do they know how interesting I am - I just am not the conventional citizen as they are.  They are mostly all nice people, but just...typical.  I just do not feel I am typical.  My dreams are for music and acting....honestly, they are. Here is this month's Top 5.  Mastodon just kicks ass, what more can be said.  There is weakness among the big hits, though, now that I can devote more time to my saved playlist of current favorites. I missed Jane's Addiction, by the way.  I was not feeling well, and ...

APRIL 2015

April showers....bring nothing in particular.  Just a few days late this month.  Music has been great the last couple years.  The Rolling Stones are touring, and I want to go see them.  Also, I bought no less than 4 or so CDs the last few months - that is a tremendous amount.  A new appreciation for music dawned on me - a lot of that has to do with Black Sabbath's body of work, which I have enjoyed listening to online. Their 70s stuff was just so good - at least, I really like it now, whereas maybe 15 years ago I might NOT have, since I was pretty much loving the alternative rock sounds and textures that were amazing at that time. Things are going OK.  I went to church quite a bit just before Easter and found it very worthwhile. I prayed and thought I found some type of connection with God. I am feeling pretty good inside - not always so ugly and blue anymore. Easter was nice, but I always find my familial experiences to be disappointing. So here you ...

APRIL 2014

I'm very late for April.  It's...you guessed it....school. There are some weekends that are entirely consumed by schoolwork. Graduate school sucks. I will get straight to the music... "Choke" again at #1.  Alice in Chains. 'nuff said! I took to "Safe and Sound" at one time, but am so sick of that sugary 80s sound.  It's a fun song, but it's run its course.  "Bones" is a song that came out over two years ago!  I had it on my radar for quite a while. I never tired of it, even though it didn't have the strength to hit the top five. Well, it finally did! It's a bit haunting. It has a certain kick to it. It was ten years ago that one of my favorite bands of all-time, The Church started a 2 or 3 song run at the Top 5.  This was due in part that I saw them live in Alexandria, VA. I had a tremendous time and it was a great show. Had I not gone, I probably would never have realized they put out an album at that time.  "Fo...
