NOVEMBER 2015

Very late this month, but it doesn't matter since I knew at the beginning of the month exactly how it would look. First, my monthly bitch about life...I have not much to say. It is what it is.  I am unhappy overall, as usual.  Much of it has to do with my father - he is just fucking miserable, and that has created a life of frustration, drudgery, and enslavement for my mom.  She is old school - loyal, hard working, not one to venture into the unknown -  otherwise, she would have divorced his ass years ago. This has caused for me a lot of emotional pain over the years.   The Church has an entry for the first time since June 4th, 2005. Their most recent album is...boring. I tired of it pretty fast, but "Vanishing Man" really is a cool song.  I will have to get the album back to rotation to absorb other potential charting songs.   I remember liking the album, but its because I like The Church, and not because it was good on its own.  I saw th...

OCTOBER 2014

Late this month with an entry. YAY for Alice in Chains.  This is probably the last song from the album "The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here" that will chart.  Creepy song, in a way.  I must say that I do not mind DuVall - in fact, I like Alice in Chains only slightly less than I did with the immortal Layne Staley.  If you read the comments at youtube, you might hear some people so steadfast in how this is a corrupted version of Alice in Chains or something.  That is ridiculous.  Sure, you can't replace Layne Staley....or can you? For those of us that were moved or comforted or BROUGHT TO A FRENZY!!! by their music with Layne, well OK, those songs mean a lot. That sound - those evil vocal harmonies, Jerry's excellent guitar playing, either in blistering songs like "Them Bones" or intoxicatingly beautiful ones like "Rotten Apple"....it all was amazing, amazing, amazing. But they don't suck, exactly, not by a longshot.  Their most recent album has g...

DECEMBER 2012

What a year. It's almost over. I don't know what to ponder, or how to label 2012.  It was overall good, I guess. I found full-time work in my career field (sort of, but it will do). I completed a graduate level course and got an A- (whew...it took A LOT of work).  I got word that I was accepted into grad school for 2013. And, so far, I still have my good health, my safety, my sight (even though it's getting worse!).... I am used to being alone, though.  I haven't been intimate with someone in about 2 years now!  I haven't kissed anyone passionately in that time, too. It would be nice to find that special someone, but oh well. There isn't much change in this month's Top 5.  What's notable is another entry from Blondie. "Sleeping Giant" is a song that didn't make the cut for their recent "Panic of Girls" album. WHY!?! "Panic" is the best of their last three albums (the post-reunion era), and it is actually decent, co...
