APRIL 2014
I'm very late for April. It's...you guessed it....school. There are some weekends that are entirely consumed by schoolwork.
Graduate school sucks.
I will get straight to the music...
"Choke" again at #1. Alice in Chains. 'nuff said!
I took to "Safe and Sound" at one time, but am so sick of that sugary 80s sound. It's a fun song, but it's run its course.
"Bones" is a song that came out over two years ago! I had it on my radar for quite a while. I never tired of it, even though it didn't have the strength to hit the top five. Well, it finally did! It's a bit haunting. It has a certain kick to it.
It was ten years ago that one of my favorite bands of all-time, The Church started a 2 or 3 song run at the Top 5. This was due in part that I saw them live in Alexandria, VA. I had a tremendous time and it was a great show. Had I not gone, I probably would never have realized they put out an album at that time. "Forget Yourself" is good...quite good. Since then, they may have put out a couple more studio albums. I have to get back into this band and maybe get some old ones I do not have from The Church.
I have little else to say this month. Alice in Chains rules, and there isn't much that is new and exciting, either musically or in my life. That's better than being in a rut, I guess.
My godfather died this past week. He (and my godmother) seem like the most gentile, nicest people. I've seen him maybe twice in the last 15 years. I wasn't close to him, exactly (nor to her). Does anyone hold their birth godparents in any type of esteem? I just think it is not something people hold dear.
Not that I am not sad for this loss. And I am sad because I really have few if any real connections with any members of my extended family. I am like the proverbial island that no man is said to be!
