DECEMBER 2014
Very late this month. The chart movements are true to where they would be had the chart been completed at the beginning of this month.
School ended - it was a difficult semester. There were A LOT of hours spent trying to complete assignments, tests, and projects. At the end of it all, I did not complete the final four homeworks - I just was so far behind that I could not get to those chapters. The final test was BASED ON THOSE CHAPTERS, though - so I was working on the exam as I was seeing the material for the first time.
I thought I did very well on the exam. But...through some misunderstanding that will hopefully be cleared up, the test was not counted (in effect, a ZERO), which killed my grade and gave me a D! This is wrong - I hope to set straight this situation, which is too complex to explain here.
Needless to say, I have been under stress waiting for the instructor to get his mind off vacation mode and act on correcting what he thinks is a late exam (when it was NOT late in being uploaded).
Christmas came and went - it was OK. It just doesn't have that magic for me. Why even talk about it at this point?
Music....I want to talk about glorious, amazing music.
"Giants" had been on my current listening list for some time, and finally broke into the charts. My current listening collection are all generally synth songs - artsy, atmospheric...that is why a song like "Giants" would be enjoyed for so long, but not necessarily be a chart buster. It is not much different in feeling than the others.
Monica Richards' song - also months in my current listening favorites, sneaks up to #2! Really, what an eerie, sad, dark song. I wish it could be in a movie or something - it would really capture an emotion for a scene where there is a loss of a person, or some separation between people in a relationship of some kind.
I could have sworn that The Neighbourhood had a single in the Top 5, but I did not find it. I think the album that "Afraid" is from is off of an album that spawned three radio hit singles. These songs have a good sound. I think the vocals make the songs. The guy singing has a fresh sounding approach to the vocals.
So, a year ago, Geoff Tate's Queensryche hit #1. And December, 2004 was a "cold" month! har har.
I saw The Church for the first and only time in Alexandria, VA. I bought their new album there, which spawned the hit "Telepath", an average song that has a great guitar riff that pulls it together. "Forget Yourself" was a good album. The CD came with a 4 song bonus CD that is mostly instrumental, ethereal, soothing music. It's not boring, trust me. It was an infectiously good listen.
The gloom of late December...I would otherwise love this weather, being free from school for almost a month...but the concern about that test is killing me. Why is this teacher doing this?
