DECEMBER 2013
Contentment of November turns to complacency. I am not motivated to do much except keep up with my class. I just can't adapt to middle age. I don't feel I'm in 'my place'. I had NEVER felt that way - never comfortable in my own skin.
Frankly I am sick of 'hearing' myself as I type this shit for what now? The last two years or so? There is little point, it seems, to continue this way. Hey, I am not ungrateful for what I have - running water, indoor plumbing, a roof over my head, knowing I (probably) won't get shot by a sniper like some poor person in Syria or something. Yes, I am fully aware of the torment a lot of people go through daily just to stay alive, let alone be happy.
But it's hard to explain how overwhelming frustration and sadness are.
Music.....Geoff Tate's Queensryche hits the top spot! Pretty good album. The haters (and Tate has a lot on youtube!) can hate - its a great song, it really is. I think the guitar solo was done by the guy from Judas Priest (I'm too lazy to look up his name to spell it correctly).
The cute song by Splashh hangs in behind the heels of Queensryche.
And yes, the immortal ALICE IN CHAINS makes its presence known, finally. It took me a while to give the album a listen, and then after many weeks, I had to give it another whirl since I was not entirely sure I really absorbed it. "The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here" is very good lyrically - in typical Alice vein, its despondent, gloomy a bit, morose, but not overly so as on past works. They aren't nearly as heavy anymore, but there is still excellent guitars and the songs are crafted and produced well. Jerry Cantrell, who I'm assuming wrote most of it, is so talented and just so damn cool.
I love Alice in Chains, old stuff and new.
Way back in 2003, Kill Hannah's song "Kennedy" debuted at #1. That album, "For Never and Ever", is so damn good! I heard "Kennedy" by chance on a Sunday morning 'new alternative music' weekly thing. I had never even heard of this band. The song just grabbed me....I am a lukewarm fan of theirs since I've heard other stuff on the internet and I really like their sound. I should get a couple more of their CDs.
I guess that is all. I am really enjoying music thanks to Alice in Chains and Geoff Tate's Queensryche. I'm trying to enjoy the other Queensryche - I imagine they might have at least one top 5 song from their recent album, but they won't dominate the way I expect AIC and Geoff Tates's band will with at least two, or more songs charting.
