AUGUST 2012

A little late again, but it's OK.

Wow - I read the entry from a year ago and I'm glad I have moved on a bit from the constant malaise.  Things have gotten better - it took work, though.  I like who I am, for the most part. My job (a "REAL" job, and in my field of study) is going pretty well, six months in.  I have disposable income, so I can enjoy things I might not have been able to for the prior 3 years!

And, I'm in love - again.  Well, not 'again', because I never really stopped loving this person.....

....but we are not together. I don't know if we will ever be. What I will say is that this person is very nice, very sweet, with a big heart. Like me, this person sees things bigger than the individual - god(s), nature, everything. I like that. Our religions/spiritual perspectives converge, but then seriously diverge at times. Our lifestyles couldn't be more different. Our discussions about anything - politics, the world in general - are interesting.

I'm not sure about any type of long-term commitment, because I am not convinced there really is a connection that two lovers should have before they trapaise down to the altar, the justice  of  the peace, or wherever they recite their vows....I love and care so much about this person, though.

Now that I've bored you to tears (whoever in the off chance is reading this!), let's talk about your reason for getting out of bed, today - my Top 5!  :)

It's kind of weird that a 'song' like Tim Hecker's is my #1. The fact is that I haven't been in to current music much the last 2 months or so. So, I will listen to "In the Fog" as a background, mood placating tonic. Not that it's "placating", though - its sounds in some of its parts....eerie, unsettling, disquieting.  It's wonderful, though.  I've checked out other stuff of his on youtube, and I like him a lot.

There's not much movement, although Blondie's "Le Bleu" has been grabbing me lately. It's a silly little song in french. Deborah Harry sings "I'm an animal" in this little love song. It's romantic, I guess. It's too bad most of the world won't hear it.  A year ago, Blondie had "D-Day" in the Top 5. I let the CD slide over the winter, I guess.  It's pretty good and I will get back into it to enjoy it more...and the result might be more songs in the Top 5.

Also a year ago, "Winter Harvest" from The Accident Experiment was in the Top 5. Talk about a letdown!  Here's the story with my interest in this band:  I found out about them a couple years after the release of their EP and their first album (both which i LOVED). I was thrilled that they reformed and I liked "Winter Harvest" when I heard it.  But there were no other songs uploaded to their webpage, or youtube.  The CD does not appear on amazon.com (although I haven't verified all this in months).  There seemed to be so little or NO self-promotion.  I want to hear the new album (and, buy it if it's good, which it probably is!).

By this time next month, it will be autumn and football season. This is my favorite time of the year. I hope it doesn't mean the Top 5 will be invaded by happy songs!
