JUNE 2012

Are we halfway over with 2012 already?

I kicked ass in my graduate class - an "A-".  Hey, I don't care if that "-" taints the glory of such a good grade. It's not a "C" (my standard in life), and higher than even a B+.   I worked so hard on the homework and got excellent grades on that part of the course.  The two mid-terms were disappointing, but I probably got close to 100% on the final exam, hence my surfing forward to the A- in the final week of the term.

thank you, yes, thank you. please, stop all the applause, you're embarrassing me!

Things are going well in life. I am in the midst of a play, I did one scene in another independent film, and the new full-time job (about 3 months in by now) is not too bad.

I'm still in love but of course I am not with that person. We speak, and it's painful to be connected with our mutual love but separated because of a number of other reasons. I just never deal with this - instead of 'moving on', we continue to keep in touch. To what end, I don't know.

Goyte's catchy song with the New Zealand singer Kimbra has beautiful voice harmonics (if that is what you call it when two vocalists sing together).  I'm not sure if that song will have the strength to muscle into the #1 spot. Still, its the type of song that 15 years from now will make compilations: "2012 - The Year's Greatest Hits", or "Rock Hits 2010-2020"....or something like that.  And, it will define this decade in the future the way Madonna has defined the 1980s - at that time she was HUGE but there was a lot of great music from different genres or different areas of the music world that has been rendered obscure.

"In the Fog" is a beautiful electronica instrumental.  It's ambient, I guess.  I love the portion of it that has that diquieting, grating sound, like the soundtrack to a bizarre nightmare.

I can honestly say that while I remember Adema from alternative radio, I had no recollection of "The Way You Like It"....after a listen..."ah, yes".  I am surprised I couldn't at first recall any of it's lyrics or the music!  It's just another of the MANY great hard alternative rock songs from the 1990s/2000s.  I'm probably repeating myself ad nauseum - but those 15+ years gave birth to incredible rock music.

Here it is, my Top Five songs, humbly presented to my loving audience:
