May, 2009
This is my first posting.
I chart my favorite songs on a monthly basis. I've been doing this for years. I'm just weird and get enjoyment from doing this for some reason.
In this blog, I will post my current top 5 songs, the top 5 songs from a year ago, and the top 5 from 13 years ago, which is when I started this madness!
(In certain years, there were some months in a row where I neglected the series.)
I will occasionally drop a few words on my thoughts. Nothing heavy-- if you want politics, look elswhere. The paranormal? There are many, many blogs dealing with that already. Sports? I'm not faithful enough to keep up with sports outside of the football season.
How do I chart these songs? I just use my judgement as to which I had enjoyed the most. Sometimes a song can go on momentum- if I'm thinking of it/singing it for days on end, it will thrust into the top 5 easily if I'm sick of or tired of the ones already there. Some songs might grow on me, and may ascend slowly as I take a liking to them.
So without further ado, here is my top 5 songs list for May, 2009, and an explanation of the numerical codes seen in the list:
The song title is followed by group name.
The first digit is the previous ranking.
The second one is the highest rank attained,
and the third digit is the total number of weeks in the top 5.
MAY 2009
1. "Disconected" by In Flames 2, 1, 2

2. "The Hungry Ghost", by The Cure 1, 1, 5

3. "Pocketful of Sunshine", by Natasha Bedenfeld 3, 1, 8

4. "Break Me Down", by Seether -, 4, 1

5. "The Day That Never Comes", by Metallica 4, 4, 2

(for clarification on the codes- as an example, "Beak Me Down" is a new entry, and therefore has no 'previous ranking'. So far, its highest rank is 4, hence the second digit. Since it is a new entry, its been in the top 5 one time, so the third digit is a 1).
MAY 2008
1. "I Get It", by Chevelle
2. "Once Beautiful", by Last Dance
3. "Empty Walls", by Serge Tankin
4. "Because of You", by Battery Cage
5. "Sin", by Star Industry
May 1999

3. "Save Yourself", by Stabbing Westward
4. "Biggest Joke", by Goober Patrol
